Sport in brief
Great Britain men and women will return to action in October after a break of more than six months. They will face double-headers against Holland and Belgium as the remaining FIH Hockey Pro League fixtures are completed, followed by home games against Germany in mid-November. Next summer Britain have fixtures against India, China and Argentina, followed by the United States and Spain.
Scotland international Sean Maitland has signed a new two-year deal with Saracens. The 31-year-old had been linked with a move away from the club after they were relegated to the Championship for repeated salary cap breaches. However, the wing, who has 48 Scotland caps, will be part of Mark McCall’s side in the second tier and is contracted with the north London side until 2022.
Former Man of Steel Danny Brough has agreed a two-year deal with Betfred Championship side Bradford. The Wakefield half-back will switch to the Bulls at the end of the 2020 season after more than 400 appearances in Super League. Brough, 37, who faced Bradford in March during a Challenge Cup tie, said: “I am hoping I can try and bring a winning mentality and great attitude to the side.”
