Subs plan un­der fire

At least five Pre­mier League clubs are plan­ning to voice ve­he­ment op­po­si­tion to con­tin­u­ing the five sub­sti­tu­tions al­lowance into next sea­son af­ter global foot­ball law­mak­ers gave an ex­ten­sion the green light. Clubs are likely to vote on the pro­posal at the next share­hold­ers’ meet­ing fol­low­ing the In­ter­na­tional Foot­ball As­so­ci­a­tion Board’s rul­ing that play­ers needed con­tin­ued pro­tec­tions from burnout. Those with smaller squads claim that since the restart the law change has given richer clubs an un­fair ad­van­tage.
