Fans in Bury have succeeded in securing a place for their newly formed team in the North-West Counties League. Bury AFC were given a slot in step six of the National League System as places at tiers three to four and five to six were announced by the Football Association.

Bury FC, a separate entity, had their 125-year membership of the Football League withdrawn last year after the owner failed to provide guarantees that the club had the financial means to complete the season and a takeover bid fell through. The new supporter-led Bury AFC will now play in the 20-team Division One North of the NWCL.

Championship club Coventry have been temporarily playing at Birmingham City’s St Andrew’s Stadium. A statement said: “Coventry City and the University of Warwick have commenced planning for a partnership, which would see the university provide land to the club for the development of a new stadium, thereby creating a new home for the club with easy access for fans living in the city of Coventry.”
