The Exeter Chiefs board will meet tomorrow to discuss a potential rebranding that would involve dropping their American Indian badge and mascot. An Exeter supporters’ petition with more than 3,500 signatures is calling for an end to the Sandy Park club’s “harmful imagery and branding”. Two more petitions have been launched arguing against any change, however.
Qatar, the host of the 2022 football World Cup, has announced that it would also like to stage the Olympics, possibly in 2032. The Gulf state’s Olympic committee has submitted a request to the International Olympic Committee to join the phase of “continuous dialogue” about hosting a future Games. The Olympics have never been hosted in the Middle East.
Grigor Dimitrov has revealed that he is still feeling the ill-effects of Covid-19 more than a month after contracting the virus at Novak Djokovic’s Adria Tour. The Bulgarian, who played in the Ultimate Tennis Showdown in Nice at the weekend, said: “One day I feel really well but then all of a sudden I need to completely shut down and take a nap, or just rest.”
