6 The Daily Telegraph Tuesday 28 July 2020 ** Sport Football From one feat to the next German named best manager Jurgen Klopp accepted another award last night when he was named the League Managers’ Association manager of the year. The German edged last year’s winner, Chris Wilder, into the runner-up spot. Klopp was honoured for winning the league title with Liverpool, while Wilder’s Sheffield United narrowly missed out on Europe in a remarkable return to the Premier League. Also short-listed were Wycombe manager Gareth Ainsworth and Leeds United’s Marcelo Bielsa (below, far left), who was named Championship manager of the year after winning the title. Coventry City’s Mark Robins (below, third left) took the League One award and Crewe’s David Artell (below, second left) was named League Two manager of the year. Emma Hayes (below, left) was named Barclays FA Women’s Super League manager of the year after leading Chelsea to a league and League Cup double, while Aston Villa’s Gemma Davies took the Women’s Championship award. The Premier League manager of the year will be awarded next month.
