Hamp­shire over­come sec­ond freak in­jury

Bowler Ryan Steven­son had to be car­ried off the pitch at Radlett yes­ter­day as Hamp­shire suf­fered their sec­ond freak in­jury in two days in the match with Middlesex.

Hav­ing seen all-rounder Liam Daw­son suf­fer a ten­don in­jury when he fell awk­wardly on Sun­day, Hamp­shire yes­ter­day lost seamer Steven­son when he skid­ded into a pitch­side mar­quee and gashed his shin on one of the sup­port­ing poles.

Felix Or­gan stepped into the breach with fig­ures of four for 42 as the home side were dis­missed for 201 to leave Hamp­shire chas­ing a vic­tory tar­get of 158. Sam North­east’s side ad­vanced to 60 for two at stumps and go into the fi­nal day as clear favourites to win.
