British Gymnastics suspends two of Olympian Tinkler’s former coaches
Two of Olympic medallist Amy Tinkler’s former coaches have been suspended by British Gymnastics.
The governing body confirmed the pair had been relieved of their duties temporarily, more than a month after Tinkler went public with a complaint lodged last
December that she said had not been resolved.
Tinkler, who won bronze at Rio 2016 aged just 16, also revealed she had retired from the sport in January because of her traumatic experiences and not an injury, as had been suggested at the time.
A British Gymnastics spokesman said: “Two coaches from South Durham Gymnastics Club are currently suspended. Suspension is a
neutral act intended to protect both parties in a complaint.
“We’re not in a position to comment further on these suspensions or on any other coaches at the moment.”
Tinkler, who moved from the South Durham club in Spennymoor to train in Basildon, in 2017, said she had spoken out after receiving counselling from South Essex Gymnastics Club.
