The num­ber of ships pass­ing through the Panama Canal is ris­ing, in a pos­i­tive sign for the global econ­omy as it looks to bounce back from Covid-19. Tran­sits rose to 933 in July from 845 in June, which was the fewest since the canal opened an ex­panded set of locks four years ago, ac­cord­ing to Bloomberg. Early Au­gust num­bers show fur­ther im­prove­ment.
