Gabriel deal

Arse­nal are to sign Lille cen­tral de­fender Gabriel Ma­gal­haes for £22.6 mil­lion. It is un­der­stood a five-year deal was agreed with the 22-year-old last night. Gabriel had of­fers from a num­ber of other clubs, in­clud­ing Napoli and Ever­ton, but the Gun­ners look to have won the race.

Koe­man’s call

Ron­ald Koe­man has been named Barcelona’s first-team coach af­ter agree­ing a two-year deal. The 57-year-old

Dutch­man, who spent six years at Barca as a player, will leave his job in charge of Hol­land’s na­tional team to re­place Quique Se­tien fol­low­ing his de­par­ture on Mon­day. Koe­man, who had pre­vi­ously been in charge of Southamp­ton and Ever­ton, said: “Ev­ery­one knows Barca is my dream club.”

Blades move

Sh­effield United have signed Bournemout­h goal­keeper Aaron Rams­dale for £18.5mil­lion on a four-year deal. The 22-year-old Eng­land Un­der-21 in­ter­na­tional returns to Bra­mall Lane where he be­gan his ca­reer, hav­ing left for Bournemout­h in 2017.
