Wether­spoons warns of loss in wake of pan­demic

Wether­spoon ex­pects to sink to an an­nual loss and warned that sales will suf­fer when the Eat Out To Help Out scheme ends next week. The pub group, which has re­opened 844 of its 873 sites, said bar and food sales fell by 16.9pc for the 44 days to Aug 16. It said had seen a “rapid ac­cel­er­a­tion” fol­low­ing the launch of Rishi Su­nak’s dis­count din­ing scheme.
