Scottish teenager, Ruben Lindsay, who led the qualifiers from Wednesday’s strokeplay round, lost 2&1 to Finland’s Ilari Saulo, while 2019 Walker Cup player Thomas Plumb beat Ireland’s Robert Moran 4&3.

David Mercer, the BBC tennis commentator and former Wimbledon umpire, has died aged 70. Mercer umpired the Wimbledon men’s singles final between Jimmy Connors and John McEnroe in 1984.
