Hays posts mixed re­sults amid dire jobs mar­ket

Re­cruiter Hays re­ported im­prov­ing re­sults yes­ter­day but has de­cided against pay­ing a div­i­dend. Its profit be­fore tax for the year ended June 30 fell 63pc to £86.3m, with fees in­take “heav­ily im­pacted” by Covid-19 in the first half of 2020. Over­all, net fees fell 11pc, to just shy of £1bn – with “pre­elec­tion” un­cer­tain­ties also weigh­ing on its UK op­er­a­tions last year.
