Aus­tralians not tak­ing the knee ‘Ed­u­ca­tion is more im­por­tant’

Aus­tralia will not take the knee in a ges­ture of sol­i­dar­ity with the Black Lives Mat­ter move­ment, cap­tain Aaron Finch has con­firmed.

“The ed­u­ca­tion around it is more im­por­tant than the protest,” Finch said. “I have spo­ken to Eoin [Mor­gan] and we are not go­ing to do spe­cific ges­tures like it has hap­pened in the past.”

To­day’s Twenty20 in­ter­na­tional at the Ageas Bowl will be Aus­tralia’s first since the killing of Ge­orge Floyd in the United States trig­gered a global wave of protests.
