Rafael Nadal is hoping to address issues in his game that contributed to a shock Italian Open defeat just a week out from the start of the French Open. The 12-time Roland Garros champion fell to a 6-2, 7-5 quarter-final loss against Argentine Diego Schwartzman. Nadal said: “I’ll go back home and then see what’s going on. I did my job here. I did a couple of things well and other things bad.” In the women’s event, Simona Halep reached a third Italian Open final with a hard-fought win over Garbine Muguruza. There was little to separate the two former French Open winners as Halep triumphed 6-3, 4-6, 6-4 in front of 1,000 fans at the Foro Italico. Halep, who lost in the 2017 and 2018 finals, will face Karolina Pliskova in today’s showpiece.
