The Juddmonte Middle Park Stakes at Newmarket on Saturday is shaping up to be one of the best juvenile races of the season.

The 10 entries include the Gimcrack winner Minzaal, the Richmond Stakes winner Supremacy, three Royal Ascot winners in The Lir Jet, Tactical and Nando Parrado, and Lucky Vega, who was an unlucky fifth in the National Stakes recently.

Minzaal, who is owned by Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed Al Maktoum, will bid to give Owen Burrows a first Group One winner.

“Owen’s been very pleased with him since York,” said Angus Gold, the sheikh’s racing manager. “I’m sure he’ll have another bit of work and if that goes well, hopefully we’ll see him on Saturday.”

Clive Cox, who has Supremacy in the race, also has Nando Parrado, the 150-1 winner of the Coventry Stakes who franked the form when runner-up in the Prix Morny. He would prefer the Dewhurst or a drop of rain for Nando Parrado.

Miss Amulet, winner of the Lowther Stakes, and Dandalla, the Duchess of Cambridge Stakes winner, will clash in the fillies’ equivalent.
