French pres­i­dent ‘halted LVMH’s Tif­fany takeover’

France’s pres­i­den­tial palace asked its for­eign min­istry to ad­vise lux­ury goods com­pany LVMH to de­fer its $16bn (£13bn) deal to buy US jew­eller Tif­fany, Reuters re­ported. The for­eign min­istry’s let­ter, cit­ing trade ten­sions with the US, was one of the rea­sons cited by LVMH when it de­layed the takeover ear­lier this month.
