He is better known as a mask-wearing Hollywood actor in the Deadpool films, but Ryan Reynolds’ ambitions could now extend to investing in non-League Wrexham.

Reynolds last night confirmed on Twitter that he and fellow American actor Rob McElhenney had been in talks with the National League side.

Reynolds, who is married to actress Blake Lively, and McElhenney, who is best known for his role in the hit sitcom, It’s Always Sunny

in Philadelphia, are ready to “put forward their vision” for Wrexham at a special general meeting.

The fan-owned club’s members have voted overwhelmingly for talks to proceed. A prospective takeover could see Reynolds and McElhenney investing around £2million into the club, which has been owned by supporters since 2011.
