Min­is­ter’s sport­ing visit

● The Welsh Min­is­ter for So­cial Ser­vices and Pub­lic Health re­cently had a chance to see first-hand the va­ri­ety of phys­i­cal ac­tiv­i­ties be­ing of­fered through Gwynedd Coun­cil’s Healthy Life­styles team. The visit pro­vided an op­por­tu­nity for Re­becca Evans AM to see the sum­mer sports camp at the Ar­fon Leisure Cen­tre, Caernar­fon in ac­tion. It pro­vides a range of ac­tiv­i­ties from ten­nis and ath­let­ics to judo and swim­ming for pri­mary school aged chil­dren through­out the sum­mer school hol­i­days. In ad­di­tion, the Min­is­ter also vis­ited a rugby camp run in part­ner­ship be­tween Gwynedd Coun­cil’s Sport for Life team, the Welsh Rugby Union and Caernar­fon Rugby Club. It pro­vided an op­por­tu­nity to show­case the work be­ing un­der­taken across the county which has been praised by the Welsh Rugby Union to pro­mote rugby as a pos­i­tive sport­ing op­por­tu­nity for boys and girls across the county. Re­becca Evans, Min­is­ter for So­cial Ser­vices and Pub­lic Health, said: “With a wealth of nat­u­ral re­sources on its doorstep, Gwynedd is a fan­tas­tic place to take part in out­door ac­tiv­i­ties and sport. “It has been good to see for my­self the range of ac­tiv­i­ties on of­fer to chil­dren in Gwynedd, such as the Sports and Rugby Camps held dur­ing the sum­mer hol­i­days. The en­thu­si­asm of the staff, and the fun that the chil­dren were hav­ing, were clear to see.”
