Bont drop to fourth af­ter Town de­feat

BONTNEWYDD missed the chance to close the gap on the Gwynedd League lead­ers on Satur­day as they went down to a 4-3 loss at Holy­head Town.

Bont dropped to fourth place, four points adrift of lead­ers Bro Goronwy af­ter be­ing over­hauled in the stand­ings by Town.

Holy­head went ahead through Asa Thomas af­ter two min­utes, be­fore Dale Mur­phy added a sec­ond lit­tle af­ter the half hour mark.

Aled Steele and Dan Evans brought Bont back on level terms, be­fore Ian Plem­ing put the vis­i­tors in the lead on 72 min­utes. How­ever, fur­ther goals from Thomas and Ian Wil­lians en­sure Holy­head sealed the points.

Llan­l­lyfni went down to a 2-0 loss at Gwalch­mai, a brace from Mark Grif­fith do­ing the dam­age for the home side, while Waun­fawr crashed to a 3-1 loss at home to lead­ers Bro Gornowy.

Carwyn Wil­liams put Bro ahead be­fore Ioan Gwynedd replied for the home side on 72 min­utes.

But late goals from Andy Wil­liams (88) and Owain Griffiths (91) saw Bro seal the vic­tory.

Llanys­tumdwy’s clash at Me­nai Bridge Tigers was post­poned due to a wa­ter­logged pitch, while Ne­fyn United’s home clash with Beau­maris and Talysarn Celts home game with Llan­goed were also post­poned.
