AGE­ING WELL: Age Cymru Gwynedd a Mon have teamed up with Com­mu­ni­ties First and Gwynedd Coun­cil to run an age­ing well project for over-50s in Bangor and Caernar­fon. The aim is to en­cour­age

older peo­ple to come for a cuppa and a chat, and to take part in ac­tiv­i­ties if they so wish. For ex­am­ple there are gen­tle chair ex­er­cises in the scout hut in Maesincla, Caernar­fon ev­ery Wed­nes­day from 10am on­wards, a com­puter skills course ev­ery Friday from 10am on­wards, whereby peo­ple can bring their own de­vices to learn on, or use ones pro­vided for them.

WALK FOR CHIL­DREN IN NEED: As part of the BBC’s Coun­try­file Week­end of Ram­bles, aimed at boost­ing sup­port for the char­ity Chil­dren in Need, the Caernar­fon & Dwyfor (cadram­blers.co.uk) group of Ramblers Cymru in­vite you to join them at the Bron­danw Arms (Y Ring) at Gar­reg, Llan­frothen on Satur­day, Oc­to­ber 14. Start at 10.30am, the five mile walk passes Plas Bron­danw be­fore wood­land foot­paths lead up to open hill­sides with ex­ten­sive views, to reach the old toll house at Ogof Llech­wyn. The de­scent passes close to the site of an old fort and the Twr at Wern, be­fore a re­turn to Y Ring and wel­come re­fresh­ments. Ffion Jones was the guest speaker on Pwyll Pistyll, her craft and needle­work busi­ness, with many ex­am­ples of her work which were avail­able for mem­bers to buy. The tea hostesses were Betty Coles and Mar­garet Roberts, and the raf­fle, do­nated by Sharon Mears was won by San­dra Jones. The next meet­ing will be the AGM at 7pm on Novem­ber 7 at the Ala Road Chapel Vestry. New mem­bers al­ways wel­come.
