● A new chapter in the history of Criccieth’s RNLI Lifeboat Station has begun with the completion of a new boathouse for the inshore rescue boat and the delivery of a new launch vehicle. The purpose-built boathouse, located across the road from the existing station which houses the larger Atlantic 85 Lifeboat, will house the inshore rescue boat and a new Mitsubishi L200 launch vehicle. The cost has been met from a legacy and various gifts from people who either live or have a connection with Criccieth. The new building is largely carbon-neutral thanks to the installation of solar PV units which will power both boathouses. The boathouse also houses lifesaving equipment associated with the inshore rescue boat. The cost of the launch vehicle has been provided by local benefactor and the boathouse will be officially be opened on April 7, 2018.
