Bethel knocked out of Welsh Cup without top scorer Williams
BETHEL were knocked out of the FAW Women’s Welsh Cup at a strong Northop Hall by a 4-1 margin.
Minus top-scorer Ffion Williams, Bethel started the tie well, but Hall grew into the game and after 13 minutes Laura Pennington picked the ball up outside the box, drove through the defence and rounded the keeper to slot home and break the deadlock.
After 25 minutes a corner from the right was met by Kirstie Kural, who towered above the defence to thunder home with a header.
In the 39th minute Pennington again got behind the defence, rounded the keeper and calmly rolled the ball into an empty net.
Hall did not have it all their own way, their keeper Bethan Thomas making some great saves to deny Bethel.
Bethel started the second half the better team and after 58 minutes Katie Midwinter capitalised on a keeper error to make it 3-1.
Both keepers made some more smart saves but after 72 minutes Hall wrapped the game up with a neat one-two which put Chelsea Evans through one-on-one and she slotted into the corner.
