Celts turn up the heat for hard-fought victory over new rivals
CAERNARFON Celts Under-18 basketball team, pictured, began their season with a 74-56 victory against new local rivals Bangor City.
An exciting first period set the tone for a competitive sporting encounter between two talented sides. Some great opening baskets, despite intense defence from both teams, saw the quarter ending 19-14 to Celts.
Tables were turned in the second quarter as Bangor outscored the Cofis 16-14, but the match stood 33-30 to Caernarfon overall.
Celts turned up the heat in the third period with a solid defensive display that kept City to eight points for the quarter, while the Cofis made the best of their offensive opportunities by scoring 25 points.
