Maloney bags hat-trick as Bethel brush re­ju­ve­nated Bay aside

BETHEL booked their place in the quar­ter-fi­nals of the NEWFA Women’s Cup as they beat a much-re­ju­ve­nated Kin­mel Bay side 7-2 last Sun­day.

The vis­i­tors were a much im­proved out­fit from the one which crashed 15-0 at Cae Seilo in a North Wales League Divi­sion One rout at the start of the season.

It was Bay who opened the scor­ing, through a con­tro­ver­sial penalty awarded for a du­bi­ous hand­ball.

Bethel hit back quickly and were level al­most in­stantly. A great goal-kick over the top from Sioned Hughes Wil­liams al­lowed Erin Maloney to race through on goal and smash her ef­fort into the top cor­ner. Sioned Phillips made it 2-1 with a fan­tas­tic header from a Yas­min Wil­liams free kick, be­fore adding her sec­ond and Bethel’s third after her shot was too hot for the keeper to han­dle.
