Maloney bags hat-trick as Bethel brush rejuvenated Bay aside
BETHEL booked their place in the quarter-finals of the NEWFA Women’s Cup as they beat a much-rejuvenated Kinmel Bay side 7-2 last Sunday.
The visitors were a much improved outfit from the one which crashed 15-0 at Cae Seilo in a North Wales League Division One rout at the start of the season.
It was Bay who opened the scoring, through a controversial penalty awarded for a dubious handball.
Bethel hit back quickly and were level almost instantly. A great goal-kick over the top from Sioned Hughes Williams allowed Erin Maloney to race through on goal and smash her effort into the top corner. Sioned Phillips made it 2-1 with a fantastic header from a Yasmin Williams free kick, before adding her second and Bethel’s third after her shot was too hot for the keeper to handle.
Bay reduced the deficit before the break as an awkward bobble took the ball away from Hughes-Williams and allowed for a simple tap in for the travellers, whose first-half scorers were Niomi
