School’s sponsored skip

-

PUPILS at Drumlemble Primary did not miss a beat during a sponsored British Heart Foundation skip.

The youngsters’ skipping lessons are all part of the BHF’s healthy heart campaign and recently children from P1 to P7 took part in an event called Jump Off.

Its aim was to raise money to help fund BHF research into preventing, predicting and trying to cure heart disease.

The charity relies on the generosity of sponsors to help it continue this lifesaving work.

The children raised £383, Campbeltown Co-op donated plenty of bottles of water and fresh fruit to keep them going, and the school will share 20 per cent of the funds raised.

As well as the skipping event, the children have been taking part in the BHF’s heart start programme and have learned how to deal with an unconscious person, recognise a heart attack and a cardiac arrest, perform CPR, deal with choking and respond to serious bleeding.

A BHF spokesperson said: ‘The BHF is determined to transform the UK into a nation of lifesavers – a country where everyone knows how to save a life.’
