Top under-15 footballers honoured at prize-giving

-

CAMPBELTOWN Pupils 2002s’ (U15s) top goalscorer netted the player of the year award at the annual prize-giving.

Pride

At the event, last Friday in the Ardshiel Hotel, management team Willie Renton, Darren Renton and Liam Renton talked of their pride in the team last season for the effort shown but could not deny a bit of disappointment.

But for a couple of poor performances, where the team hit a bit of bad form, they were capable of winning the league. However, the team had the spirit to come through the period to finish the campaign on better form.

There were some funny moments from throughout the season shared, not to mention the more embarrassing moments which brought some laughter and, of course, some embarrassment to some of the players.

Thanked

Parents and helpers were all thanked for their support throughout the season. Stephen Lang thanked the coaches on behalf of the players and parents for the time and commitment they have given to the team through the season.

Prizes and awards were: top scorer: Ross Souden; most assists: Fraser McBrayne; goal of the season: Matthew Lamont; miss of the season: Andrew Renton: I’m a star: Matthew Lang; golden gloves: Archie McKellar; training award: Alasdair Ferguson; cheerleads: Archie Cook and Calum McKillop: helpers: Alison Thomson, Suzy Ferguson, Stephen Lang and Ian Reid; fair play: Aaron McCallum; clubman: Andrew Renton; breakout player: Calum Cook; player of the year awards – parents’: Archie McKellar; players’: Archie McKellar; player of the year: Ross Souden.
