What’s hap­pen­ing in Kin­tyre

PEO­PLE keen to see some of Scot­land’s top han­dlers will flock to Kin­tyre Sheep­dog Tri­als As­so­ci­a­tion’s com­pe­ti­tion to­day.

Clochkeil Farm will host the an­nual tri­als this year, from 8am un­til 5pm. En­try is free and all vis­i­tors are welcome.

Those with a nose for things a bit more del­i­cate should en­joy Clachan Art Show, which runs from to­day (Friday) un­til Sun­day, in the vil­lage hall.

The ex­hi­bi­tion will be open from 10am un­til 6pm to­day and to­mor­row, and from 11am un­til 5pm on Sun­day.

Re­fresh­ments

On Satur­day morn­ing, St Kieran’s RC church will be serv­ing re­fresh­ments in the Red Cross Hall, Kirk Street, from 10am un­til noon. There will be a raf­fle, bot­tle stall and home bak­ing for sale.

At night, the drive is on to raise funds for Campbeltown Brass, who will hold a car trea­sure hunt, fol­lowed by a bar­be­cue at 6pm.

Reg­is­tra­tion is from 5.45pm at the Guide Hall on Kin­loch Road. It is £10 per car and there will be var­i­ous prizes for the win­ners.

Skills

Golf­ing greats can test their skills on Sun­day at a putting com­pe­ti­tion at Gram­mar Lodge from 1pm un­til 4pm. All pro­ceeds from the event will go to the Campbeltown Christ­mas Lights Group.

And there is more to look for­ward to next weekend, when Keep­ing It Lo­cal in Burn­bank Place will host an art ex­hi­bi­tion from Au­gust 16-20, fea­tur­ing young artists in­clud­ing Matthew Hales and Paul Rus­sell. En­try is free, and peo­ple are welcome to go along and browse.
