Campbeltown Courier - - VIEWPOINT -

Carnival disappointment

WHAT a beautiful day Saturday was for a carnival parade.

But, alas, what a lamentable turnout. Organiser Jack McKinven did his best, but was let down by last-minute withdrawals by several people who had promised their support.

It was a pity, too, that the pipe band was unable to turn out.

The most unfortunate thing is that the town had plenty of visitors, who will be telling their friends that was the best Campbeltown could do.

It seems that everyone wants entertainment

but few are prepared to help provide it.

The show was saved by the children, Messrs Cruden, the Rex Cinema, the YFC and a few who helped tremendously.
