Kintyre’s musical talents

Campbeltown Courier - - LETTERS -

KINTYRE nurtures musical talent far in excess of the size of its population.

This week the Courier reports on a drum major winning a great honour. Anyone who has witnessed Liam Renton’s flourishes, at the head of a pipe band, cannot fail to be impressed as the judges were at Cowal.

Charles MacLean, from just up the road in Lochgilphead, may be an adopted son but he carries the torch for Argyll military piping and currently has three Campbeltown protégés.

Sadly this week marks the early passing of fiddle player Maurice McMillan Duncan, renowned throughout Argyll.

KSPB made up for recent disappointments with a good showing at Cowal.
