Bookworms descend on Islay
ISLAY is the place to be for all bibliophiles at the end of the month.
The island’s annual book festival, bringing words to the whisky isle, runs from September 29 to October 1, offering events for adults and all the family with September 28 dedicated to the isle of Jura.
Some of the festival highlights include talks by various adults’ and children’s authors, including E S Thomson, Helen Sedgwick, Pauline Prior-Pitt, Sara Sheridan, Colin MacIntyre, Corinna Krause, Jenni Minto and Les Wilson, Keith MacTaggart, Ryan Van Winkle and Konrad Borkowski, as well as poetry, drama, puppetry, storytelling and song, book-binding and photography workshops and guided walks around the island.
Some of the events are already sold out so anyone who wishes to attend is advised to book soon to avoid disappointment, although some are free to attend.
