Book­worms de­scend on Is­lay

IS­LAY is the place to be for all bib­lio­philes at the end of the month.

The island’s an­nual book fes­ti­val, bring­ing words to the whisky isle, runs from Septem­ber 29 to October 1, of­fer­ing events for adults and all the fam­ily with Septem­ber 28 ded­i­cated to the isle of Jura.

Some of the fes­ti­val high­lights in­clude talks by var­i­ous adults’ and chil­dren’s au­thors, in­clud­ing E S Thom­son, He­len Sedg­wick, Pauline Prior-Pitt, Sara Sheri­dan, Colin MacIn­tyre, Corinna Krause, Jenni Minto and Les Wil­son, Keith Mac­Tag­gart, Ryan Van Win­kle and Konrad Borkowski, as well as poetry, drama, pup­petry, sto­ry­telling and song, book-bind­ing and photography work­shops and guided walks around the island.

Some of the events are al­ready sold out so any­one who wishes to at­tend is ad­vised to book soon to avoid dis­ap­point­ment, although some are free to at­tend.
