Kintyre’s piping prowess rewarded at Cowal Gathering
GLENGARRIES flew into the sky as Kintyre Schools Pipe Band (KSPB) celebrated their success at Cowal Highland Gathering.
KSPB ended 2017’s competitive season in style last Saturday, almost sweeping the board with a first and a second.
The 3A band came first in their competition while the novice juvenile band gained second place in their section. The novice juvenile band was also awarded the best turned-out band on the park.
Cowal marked the end of the competitive season for KSPB, who are now on their annual break for the next few weeks. Following that, they will begin their practises and fund-raising events in preparation for next season’s competitions.
Look out for the bands taking part in the Remembrance Day parade and at the switching-on of the Christmas lights in Campbeltown, both in November.
The delight on the faces of all the young pipers could be seen as they were photographed with their silverware after the results had been announced, and before they travelled back home.
