Border Force cutter slips onto pontoon
A HIGH-powered twin engined RIB roared into Campbeltown as part of Operation Kraken.
Border Force Active is one of four vessels with similar roles launched in 2016.
It is powered by twin Caterpillar C18 engines driving twin water jets through a pair of reduction gearboxes and has installed power of 1,727 hp.
A crew member handed a Courier reporter a card stating that the vessel patrols UK coastal waters as part of a 2016 government project.
Codenamed Kraken it encourages people to report suspicious or unusual activity at sea.
The crew said that they could not be more specific about the craft’s role.
A Border Force spokesperson from Glasgow added: ‘We do not comment on operational activity.’
