IT WILL be martinis all round as Kintyre Gin celebrates winning a top award at a national exhibition.

Beinn an Tuirc distillery’s Kintyre Gin picked up the Classic Gin of the Year award at Craft Distilling Expo 2017 in London.

The event recognises the world’s most prominent master distillers, still makers, professionals and connoisseurs, as well as offering talks and workshops.

For the fifth year, the gin of the year category was up for grabs, and Kintyre Gin had to battle it out with more than 80 gins from across eight countries throughout Europe.

Niall Macalister Hall, director at Beinn an Tuirc distillery, said: ‘We are delighted to have won this award after only three months trading. Given the strength of the competition, and the fact that it was a blind tasting undertaken by a panel of true gin experts, we couldn’t be happier.’
