MACC vision sees ambition realised

Campbeltown Courier - - ARGYLL ENTERPRISE WEEK -

It’s now five very successful years since Machrihanish Airbase Community Company (MACC) purchased the former RAF Machrihanish on the Kintyre peninsula for £1 from the MoD. MACC operates with a vision to build a prosperous and sustainable future for the local community by unlocking the potential of its properties and assets, and acting as a platform for economic growth in Kintyre. Unique, in that it is often described as a business park with its own airport, MACC’s large portfolio of buildings accommodates a range of about 80 tenants, employing more than 200 people full-time on the site. These tenants range from small construction firms to large manufacturers and include a commercial shooting range and the UK’s leading manufacturer of wind towers. MACC is in the spotlight as a potential location for a UK spaceport. The 1,025-acre site also serves as a superb location for TV, film or events, has a large function suite and hosts an annual car rally. With such vast potential yet to unlock at the site, there is much to look forward to in the next five years.
