Creamery wins international gold
Campbeltown Creamery whipped up a gold and silver at the International Cheese Awards in Cheshire. The Creamery, owned by First Milk, beat off hundreds of entries to win a gold for its extra mature cheddar, as well as a silver award for its smoked cheese in the Naturally Smoked Cheese class. The recent competition at the Nantwich show attracted more than 5,000 entries. Campbeltown was given an honourable tribute of Best Scottish Cheese In Show of any variety and the creamery was also highly praised in the Best Scottish Cheese section. Throughout the duration of the five-hour long event, a total of 5,183 competitors were judged by approximately 300 experts. First Milk CEO Shelagh Hancock said: ‘The International Cheese Awards are a celebration of the very best cheesemakers and dairy producers from around the world. ‘With thousands of entries, only the very best cheese in each category receives an honour, so for our Campbeltown Creamery to come away with five awards is an exceptional achievement.’
