It was a ‘Case’ of tractor love for a bride’s carriage

- Mark Davey editor@campbeltowncourier.co.uk

Resplendent in her white dress, a bride shared a tractor cab with her husband enroute to their reception. Selene Martin, who grew up in Campbeltown, tied the knot with Cameron Neill last Saturday. After the ceremony and a drinks reception in Kilkerran Road, Mrs Neill with her hubby in the cab, drove a brand new Case tractor to the main reception at Campbeltown Town Hall. Earlier, lifelong friend, farmer Donald MacKay, had arranged to borrow the vehicle from Ian Barbour at Glenside Tractors. Mrs Neill said: ‘I work at the National Museum of Rural Life in East Kilbride, where driving a tractor is part of my job.’ Mrs Neill left Campbeltown aged 18 to go to art school and subsequently settled in East Kilbride, where, a decade ago, working backstage in the village theatre at an amateur production of Fiddler on the Roof, she met Cameron from Halfway, Cambuslang. The couple became engaged two years later and currently share their East Kilbride home with their dog Jess. They stayed at the Ardshiel Hotel and have spent the week with family and friends in Campbeltown, although a honeymoon in Denmark is planned and a further trip later in the year for Cameron’s 50th birthday.
