Suc­cess at Cowal High­land Gath­er­ing

Southend’s cham­pion boy dancer, James McCorkin­dale, 12, of Machar­i­och Farm has done it again. James car­ried off the Ar­gyll High­land Danc­ing Cham­pi­onship (un­der 13) at Cowal High­land Gath­er­ing on Satur­day for the sec­ond year in suc­ces­sion. The young dancer was also through to the fi­nal of the Scot­tish Cham­pi­onships and fin­ished third. He will be com­pet­ing at the Brae­mar High­land Gath­er­ing on Satur­day. Don­ald McLean, Killeo­nan, was the run­ner-up in the Ar­gyll Cham­pi­onship (un­der 15) and Agnes McMil­lan, Southend, came third in the un­der 15 Sword Dance. Wendy Lang, of Camp­bel­town, was placed fourth in the un­der 13 High­land Fling. An­other Camp­bel­town prize win­ner at Cowal was piper Peter McCallum, who took the Cowal Sil­ver Medal in the over 16 sec­tion. Peter won the Inglis Cup and Cowal Medal last year.
