Mega Samba ses­sions at Clachan

Peo­ple of all ages cre­ated a car­ni­val at­mos­phere dur­ing a Samba drum­ming ses­sion at this year’s Clachan Small­hold­ers’ Gath­er­ing. Mark MacS­por­ran, a for­mer pupil of Rhu­na­haorine Pri­mary School and Tar­bert Academy, led work­shops last Satur­day af­ter­noon, shar­ing his Brazil­ian mu­sic skills. A va­ri­ety of in­stru­ments were used, in­clud­ing tra­di­tional cuíca and surdo drums and tam­borims and agogôs. Mark, a lec­turer in mu­sic the­ory, mu­sic ap­pre­ci­a­tion and first study drums at Perth Col­lege UHI, teaches mu­si­cal com­po­si­tion and creativ­ity in Kin­tyre schools.
