Amateur actors invited to AGM
All amateur drama enthusiasts, young and old, are cordially invited to attend the Argyll-Kintyre District Committee of the Scottish Community Drama Association’s AGM. Any amateur drama groups who wish to get involved in the drama festival next year will also be welcomed at the meeting in the Argyll Arms Hotel, Campbeltown, on Thursday September 27, at 7pm. February 2019 is the drama festival’s 70th anniversary year and the committee is hoping for a large number of entries to celebrate this prestigious event. The first Kintyre-Argyll drama festival was held in the town hall in 1949 and featured teams from Machrihanish, St Kieran’s Church, Lorne Street Church, Highland Church, Tayinloan Players and Drumlemble Youth Club. Hilda McSporran, who is still an active member of Peninver Players Drama Club, performed in the 1949 festival as a young member of Machrihanish Drama Club.
