Road to close at West­port for resur­fac­ing

There will be overnight re­stric­tions on the A83 at West­port two days af­ter it is sched­uled to open at Muas­dale. BEAR Scot­land is plan­ning to start £100,000 of es­sen­tial resur­fac­ing works on more than 350m of rapidly de­te­ri­o­rated car­riage­way on Sun­day Oc­to­ber 28 at 7pm. This is two days af­ter the resur­fac­ing works in Muas­dale, which also re­quired overnight clo­sures, are due to fin­ish. It is ex­pected the West­port im­prove­ments will take place across four nights and be fin­ished by 7am on Thurs­day Novem­ber 1. A 10-mile-per-hour con­voy sys­tem will be in place for the first two hours of op­er­a­tions while the re­moval of the ex­ist­ing sur­face takes place. From 9pm, an overnight road clo­sure will be in place for safety. Dur­ing these times traf­fic will be stacked at ei­ther end of the clo­sure then es­corted through the work when safe to do so. Ac­cess for sched­uled bus ser­vices will be pro­vided on ar­rival with ac­cess for emer­gency ser­vices main­tained at all times.
