Players, coaches and parents of Argyll’s young rugby fanatics scrummed down to Campbeltown for a Dalriada festival. Last Saturday’s event saw a great turnout of players from Campbeltown, Kintyre, Mid Argyll and Etive Vikings making their first foray to the deep south of the peninsula. The Meadows matches, from 11am to 1pm, included teams from P4-7, U14 boys and U15 girls. Rugby development officer Allan Wright said: ‘It was great to have such encouraging numbers for the U14 boys’ game between Mid Argyll and Kintyre and also for Campbeltown U15 Girls. ‘John, Chris, Duncan, Mick along with their team of parents put on a great show for all the visitors.’ Mini Rugby scores from Saturday were: P4/5: Oban Lorne 1-6 Etive Vikings; Kintyre 3-8 Mid Argyll; Etive Vikings 6-1 Kintyre; Mid Argyll 4-6 Oban Lorne; Etive Vikings 6-4 Mid Argyll; Oban Lorne 5-5 Kintyre. This Sunday is the Oban Lorne Dalriada Festival, noon at Glencruitten for P4/5, P6/7 and U14 Boys. On November 11 the fun shifts to Lochaber from noon at Banavie.
