Wind farm developer seeks local companies
Wind farm developer RES claims Argyll businesses could benefit from in the region of £3.9 million in the form of jobs, employment, and the use of local services, as the construction of Blary Hill Wind Farm at Glenbarr gets closer.
RES is keen to speak with local businesses about the services they could provide during the wind farm construction, and on July 16 we will be holding a virtual ‘meet the buyer’ event.
Businesses offering services including plant operator and hire, ground and electrical works, labourers, cleaners, fencers, accommodation providers and aggregate suppliers are invited to book a time slot to discuss these opportunities in more detail.
RES is currently undertaking access works on Barr Glen Road in preparation for the removal of forestry from the site, helping to support the production of key products, such as pallets, packaging, biomass fuel and face masks, and in the coming weeks RES expects to begin the main construction of the wind farm.
Iain MacCallum, construction project manager, said: ‘As we emerge from the current health and economic crisis, it is more important than ever that we continue to connect with local businesses and use the skills and knowledge that exist in Argyll, wherever we can.
‘We held a similar event prior to the construction of Freasdail Wind Farm, near Whitehouse, and as a result we’re very proud to say more than £6 million was spent in the local economy, with many local businesses working with us on the project.
‘We’re keen to replicate that success at Blary Hill and would urge local businesses to speak to us about any potential opportunities on July 16.’
