Even the hum­ble lock­side hut, a place for canal work­ers to shel­ter or store tools or ma­te­ri­als, can be an in­ter­est­ing build­ing with a style dis­tinc­tive to a par­tic­u­lar wa­ter­way – this ex­am­ple on what was orig­i­nally the Ch­ester Canal (now the north­ern part of the Shrop­shire Union) is com­pletely cir­cu­lar (it even has a curved wooden door) with a domed roof.
