Canal Boat - - Abc Leisure Group -

ONE OF MY initiations as CB Editor a while back was to drink some canal water. I was a tad sceptical that I’d survive the experience, but I did – fortunately it had been filtered first...

Now Osmio has also produced a filtration system to make canal water drinkable. It’s essentially a series of ever-smaller filters to clean water pumped out of a canal or river before it goes in the tank, followed by an ultra-violet sterilisation system, or a non-electric alternative, between the tank and tap to remove anything else nasty that might still be lurking, to make the water safe to drink straight from the cold tap.

It’ll certainly do the job on any boat, but it’s a relatively large system to fit, so we reckon it would best suit bigger boats and those cruising abroad, but that’s not to say you wouldn’t fit it to anything smaller.
