Elections 2015: All change at the top for CRT
EIGHT NEW MEMBERS have been elected to the Canal & River Trust’s governing national Council – and four new Trustees are now being sought.
Four years on from the first elections when CRT was set up, the boater, employee and business representative posts were all up for re-election – plus the first poll for the new elected member representing volunteering. Our report on pages 12-13 gives the full results.
The next tier of CRT’s governance is the board of Trustees (who, in turn, oversee the executive directors forming the top level of management of the Trust), and they, too, are to see some changes.
Under the Trust’s constitution one third of all Trustees must end their term of office every year, and they can only serve two terms. Although it’s not yet decided who will leave, there will need to be up to four new appointments – and CRT is particularly seeking applicants experienced in heritage, charitable trusts, community and government relations, people management, and infrastructure and operations management.
They are voluntary positions ( but with expenses paid) requiring a commitment of two to three days per month. Anyone interested should email QAWTD@saxbam.com.
