Pass the bugbear

Canal Boat - - Letters - STUART MARSDEN,

LAST YEAR, WE spent some time on the Bridgewater and Trent & Mersey canals; very nice waterways and views with great pubs and places to visit.

We are not normally people to get upset, but our major bugbear is that, while moored up, boaters just do not slow down even when politely asked to do so.

You can excuse people on hire boats because they are probably not aware they are causing problems (this has got to be down to the lack of instruction from the hire boat companies who should know better and instruct their customers correctly, and should be held accountable to any damage caused to property).

What is more annoying is when boat owners do a high speed pass with total disregard to other people’s property and feelings. I just wonder if we did the same to them would they have something to say?
