The first pri­or­ity is to thor­oughly clean the sur­faces where the in­su­la­tion is to be stuck. Any sign of rust must be re­moved and new paint ap­plied. Af­ter that it’s best to rub down with ace­tone. It’s also im­por­tant not to try to stick pieces that are too large.

Cut­ting the in­su­la­tion is tricky and best done with a very long craft knife
