Boaters quizzed on state of canals

Canal Boat - - News -

HOW WELL ARE the waterways looked after? How good are facilities, services and moorings? How smooth is the licence renewal process? These are all topics included in a boater survey which is targeting one third of all the boat owners on the network.

Carried out by independent research consultancy BDRC Continental, the online survey commissioned by the Canal & River Trust is to be repeated annually, quizzing around one third of boaters each year, so that over each three-year cycle, the majority of boaters will be asked for their views.

The survey was initially trialled with the Trust’s Navigation Advisory Group and its members’ feedback was used to update the questions – which combine aspects of the earlier Boat Owners’ Views Survey (2013) and Boat Owners’ Attitude Tracker (2014-15). It was due to close on 25 March with a summary of the results due to be published in May.
