ROW OVER TREE FELLING

Canal Boat - - News -

Felling of trees alongside the Grand Union Canal at Hayes without permission has led to complaints from residents, councillors and local MP John McDonnell. Contractor Heritage Tree Services “changed the vista beyond recognition” in the words of David Brough of Hayes Town Partnership. The Canal & River Trust has confirmed most of the trees were on its land, it gave no permission for felling and it has contacted developer Crowngold Properties (who employed the contractor) asking for a plan for re-planting and landscaping. The Trust also has evidence that some of the felling debris was left in the water; this has been reported to the Environment Agency.
