I LIVE ON a narrowboat and last June purchased a fridge-freezer from a well known electrical retailer which was delivered one week later with the full knowledge of it being put on to a narrowboat.
Recently, I found that the fridge freezer had not been working for a while and all of the contents were ruined.
Having spoken to the shop and customer services and the manufacturer, they are adamant that the fridge-freezer is not covered under guarantee and will not be repaired or replaced.
I think all boaters, particularly liveaboards, should be made aware that if they purchase goods they should make 100 percent sure that they are covered by warranty if they are being used on board. Just how many of us are also buying ‘extended’ warranties that are simply worthless?
It is not the end of the story as the retailer was aware of its intended location and nowhere can I see in the small print ‘should not be put on boats’.
